CDC Has Not Been Transparent With the American Public on COVID

An article published this past weekend in The New York Times highlights a glaring problem with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its policy recommendations related to the pandemic during the past two years. The problem has to do with lack of transparency regarding hospitalizations for COVID-19 and the effectiveness of vaccinations for the illness.1 2 The Times article, written by Apoorva Mandavilli, starts out:

For more than a year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collected data on hospitalizations for Covid-19 in the United States and broken it down by age, race and vaccination status. But it has not made most of the information public. When the C.D.C. published the first significant data on the effectiveness of boosters in adults younger than 65 two weeks ago, it left out the numbers for a huge portion of that population: 18- to 49-year-olds…1 3

The article continues:

Two full years into the pandemic, the agency leading the country’s response to the public health emergency has published only a tiny fraction of the data it has collected, several people familiar with the data said.

Former CDC Director Thinks Agency Should Let COVID Data Speak for Itself

According to CDC spokesperson, Kristen Nordlund, one of the reasons for the lack of data transparency is because “basically, at the end of the day, [the data is] not yet ready for prime time,” noting that the CDC’s “priority when gathering any data is to ensure that it’s accurate and actionable.”1 In an interview with Fox News, former CDC director Robert Redfield, MD confirmed this view, saying…

One of the things is that CDC has a tendency to look at data and make sure that they believe that data is accurate. They call it curating the data. So very frequently the data is out of sync to be able to be in real-time to respond.4

But Dr. Redfield suggested that he disagreed with this practice. He said that he believes whatever data the CDC collects should “absolutely get out there in real-time.” He added:

I think the best thing for CDC to do is to tell the American public the truth and let the data there. I’m sure the American public is intelligent enough to understand the explanations. I know there’s a concern that they have that the data may somehow be misinterpreted to determine the efficacy of the vaccines, rather than just tell people the truth.4

CDC Reluctance to Track COVID “Breakthrough Cases” Due to Fear of Contributing to Vaccine Hesitancy

Nordlund reportedly said that another reason for the CDC’s hesitancy to be more transparent was due to fear that its data might be misinterpreted–that information about the number of fully vaccinated people “breakthrough” SARS-CoV-2 infections, for example, could lead to concerns about the effectiveness of the COVID shots.1 2

Epidemiologist Jessica Malaty Rivera, MS, who was a member of the team that ran The COVID Tracking Project,5 dismissed the CDC worries about incomplete data being misinterpreted. She said, “We are at a much greater risk of misinterpreting the data with data vacuums, than sharing the data with proper science, communication and caveats.”

During the past two years, the CDC has frequently been criticized for its COVID and COVID vaccine data collection practices, its mixed and confusing messaging and a growing perception that the agency has not been fully transparent with the American public regarding the pandemic.6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16

Perhaps one of the clearest examples of the CDC’s failure to provide timely and accurate COVID-related information is the agency’s inability or unwillingness to adequately track the number of cases in which fully vaccinated (and boosted) individuals have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. Because of this, it is not known how many “breakthrough cases” there have been in the United States. Consequently, there is no way to know for sure how effective the COVID shots have been in preventing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and COVID illness.

This represents a huge and fundamental scientific knowledge gap underlying the primary tool the U.S. government has aggressively pushed on the American people to deal with COVID. But this is only part of the problem. That other part has to do with the lack of reliable information regarding the number of people in the U.S. who have been hospitalized with COVID.

In April 2021, the CDC arbitrarily decided to stop tracking coronavirus breakthrough cases so that it could focus on tracking only breakthrough cases that resulted in hospitalization or death. The assumption was that this major change in policy would allow the agency to more accurately gauge the number of vaccinated people being hospitalized for COVID and, by extension, the overall number of people hospitalized for the illness.12

CDC System for Tracking COVID Hospitalizations in Need of Overhaul

But it has recently come to light that the system the CDC has been using to count COVID hospitalizations is deeply flawed. According to an article in Politico on Feb. 7, 2021 titled “Biden officials trying to recalculate U.S. Covid-19 hospitalizations,” the U.S. government has established a task force to work with “hospitals nationwide to improve COVID-19 reporting.” The task force wants hospitals to report the number of patients who are hospitalized because they have COVID and separate those from the patients who are hospitalized for other reasons but test positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus after being admitted.17 18

As reported by The Vaccine Reaction earlier this month:

What this suggests is that, in the past, U.S. hospitals have been counting people hospitalized for reasons other than COVID as COVID patients if they happened to test positive for SARS-CoV-2 after admission. This would have the effect of increasing hospital COVID case counts, making the effects of COVID on U.S. hospitals appear worse than they actually were. Remember all those media reports about how overwhelmed hospitals were with COVID patients? It now appears that at least some of that reporting may have been inaccurate, even grossly inaccurate.18

So not only do we not know how effective the COVID shots have been in real-world circumstances, we do not know how many vaccinated (or unvaccinated) people have been hospitalized for COVID–which means that we really do not know how many people have actually died of COVID, in general. It is no wonder the CDC has consistently found it so difficult to be forthcoming.

Eight Industrial Hygienists Author 27 Page Rebuttal Letter Addressing CDC’s Flawed Mask Guidance

The mask guidance that was put forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is pseudoscientific garbage, according to a new 27-page letter sent by eight industrial hygienists to the three-letter agency.

Stephen Petty and Tyson Gabriel, two friends of Steve Kirsch, are among the authors of the letter, which was also forwarded to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and several top government officials including CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) head Tony Fauci.

The professional experts who penned the letter have nearly 150 years of combined experience in their field, and they say they are “highly concerned with the inaccurate and misleading guidance being promoted by the CDC” concerning face masks for the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19).

The guidance is “overly broad” and “inaccurate,” the letter states, and is “especially inappropriate for children and the general public.”

The four key points made in the letter read as follows:

1) The general population and especially children should not be wearing N-95 masks to try to prevent infection and spread because this is unproven.

2) The CDC’s mask guidance conflicts with the mask manufacturers’ recommendations as well as worldwide standard practice and even the CDC’s own guidance, and it was imposed without an appropriate risk-benefit analysis.

3) The CDC continues to ignore the fact that the Fauci Flu is primarily spread through aerosols, not droplets, rendering them useless.

4) The CDC’s position on masks lacks proper scientific justification and creates potential harm by giving the general public a false sense of security when wearing one.

The hygienists also sent their peer-reviewed letter to the CDC’s Office of Scientific Integrity

Another recipient of the peer-reviewed letter was the Office of Scientific Integrity at the CDC, which is supposed to keep a close eye on the agency to ensure that its recommendation and guidance protocols are scientifically accurate.

In an email to [email protected], the hygienists explained that their peer review, entitled “Types of Masks and Respirators” and last updated on Jan. 28, 2022, shows that the CDC’s mask guidance “does not meet the scientific integrity that we have come to expect from HHS and all affiliated agencies.”

“Please review the findings in our report,” the email goes on to read.

“We strongly encourage your team to remove this publication from use and publish an acknowledgement of the concerns. We are willing to discuss our findings further at your request. We appreciate your time and look forward to a response.”

Chances are, there is nobody left at the CDC with any semblance of scientific integrity, so this email and the letter itself is probably already in the trash bin or the spam box. But at least they tried.

Meanwhile, the continued existence of the CDC is a detriment to society and to public health. The agency is run by tyrants and psychopaths who could not care less about the health of Americans or anyone else, and have made that abundantly clear throughout the plandemic.

Kirsch says that he does not expect the CDC to ever admit that it did anything wrong, asking the question: “When was the last time you saw that happen?”

The answer is never because neither the CDC nor any other government agency is ever wrong, according to the people who run the system. The reality is that they are purposelywrong because they have a different agenda than what they present on the surface.

“Steve, nurses know the fact that masks do not protect or prevent viruses from getting to you,” wrote someone who reads Kirsch’s blog. “We were taught that in Microbiology 101!”

I was in Eastern Europe in 1989, reporting on the revolutions that overthrew the ossified communist dictatorships that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. It was a time of hope. NATO, with the breakup of the Soviet empire, became obsolete. President Mikhail Gorbachev reached out to Washington and Europe to build a new security pact that would include Russia. Secretary of State James Baker in the Reagan administration, along with the West German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher, assured the Soviet leader that if Germany was unified NATO would not be extended beyond the new borders. The commitment not to expand NATO, also made by Great Britain and France, appeared to herald a new global order. We saw the peace dividend dangled before us, the promise that the massive expenditures on weapons that characterized the Cold War would be converted into expenditures on social programs and infrastructures that had long been neglected to feed the insatiable appetite of the military.

There was a near universal understanding among diplomats and political leaders at the time that any attempt to expand NATO was foolish, an unwarranted provocation against Russia that would obliterate the ties and bonds that happily emerged at the end of the Cold War. 

How naive we were. The war industry did not intend to shrink its power or its profits. It set out almost immediately to recruit the former Communist Bloc countries into the European Union and NATO. Countries that joined NATO, which now include Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia were forced to reconfigure their militaries, often through hefty loans, to become compatible with NATO military hardware.

There would be no peace dividend. The expansion of NATO swiftly became a multi-billion-dollar bonanza for the corporations that had profited from the Cold War. (Poland, for example, just agreed to spend $ 6 billion on M1 Abrams tanks and other U.S. military equipment.) If Russia would not acquiesce to again being the enemy, then Russia would be pressured into becoming the enemy. And here we are. On the brink of another Cold War, one from which only the war industry will profit while, as W. H. Auden wrote, the little children die in the streets.

The consequences of pushing NATO up to the borders with Russia — there is now a NATO missile base in Poland 100 miles from the Russian border — were well known to policy makers. Yet they did it anyway. It made no geopolitical sense. But it made commercial sense. War, after all, is a business, a very lucrative one. It is why we spent two decades in Afghanistan although there was near universal consensus after a few years of fruitless fighting that we had waded into a quagmire we could never win.

In a classified diplomatic cable obtained and released by WikiLeaks dated February 1, 2008, written from Moscow, and addressed to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, NATO-European Union Cooperative, National Security Council, Russia Moscow Political Collective, Secretary of Defense, and Secretary of State, there was an unequivocal understanding that expanding NATO risked an eventual conflict with Russia, especially over Ukraine.

“Not only does Russia perceive encirclement [by NATO], and efforts to undermine Russia’s influence in the region, but it also fears unpredictable and uncontrolled consequences which would seriously affect Russian security interests,” the cable reads. “Experts tell us that Russia is particularly worried that the strong divisions in Ukraine over NATO membership, with much of the ethnic-Russian community against membership, could lead to a major split, involving violence or at worst, civil war. In that eventuality, Russia would have to decide whether to intervene; a decision Russia does not want to have to face. . . . Dmitri Trenin, Deputy Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, expressed concern that Ukraine was, in the long-term, the most potentially destabilizing factor in U.S.-Russian relations, given the level of emotion and neuralgia triggered by its quest for NATO membership . . . Because membership remained divisive in Ukrainian domestic politics, it created an opening for Russian intervention. Trenin expressed concern that elements within the Russian establishment would be encouraged to meddle, stimulating U.S. overt encouragement of opposing political forces, and leaving the U.S. and Russia in a classic confrontational posture.”

The Obama administration, not wanting to further inflame tensions with Russia, blocked arms sales to Kiev. But this act of prudence was abandoned by the Trump and Biden administrations. Weapons from the U.S. and Great Britain are pouring into Ukraine, part of the $1.5 billion in promised military aid. The equipment includes hundreds of sophisticated Javelins and NLAW anti-tank weapons despite repeated protests by Moscow. 

The United States and its NATO allies have no intention of sending troops to Ukraine. Rather, they will flood the country with weapons, which is what it did in the 2008 conflict between Russia and Georgia. 

The conflict in Ukraine echoes the novel “Chronicle of a Death Foretold” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  In the novel it is acknowledged by the narrator that “there had never been a death more foretold” and yet no one was able or willing to stop it. All of us who reported from Eastern Europe in 1989 knew the consequences of provoking Russia, and yet few have raised their voices to halt the madness.  The methodical steps towards war took on a life of their own, moving us like sleepwalkers towards disaster. 

Once NATO expanded into Eastern Europe, the Clinton administration promised Moscow that NATO combat troops would not be stationed in Eastern Europe, the defining issue of the 1997 NATO-Russia Founding Act on Mutual Relations. This promise again turned out to be a lie. Then in 2014 the U.S. backed a coup against the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych who sought to build an economic alliance with Russia rather than the European Union. Of course, once integrated into the European Union, as seen in the rest of Eastern Europe, the next step is integration into NATO.  Russia, spooked by the coup, alarmed at the overtures by the EU and NATO, then annexed Crimea, largely populated by Russian speakers. And the death spiral that led us to the conflict currently underway in Ukraine became unstoppable. 

The war state needs enemies to sustain itself. When an enemy can’t be found, an enemy is manufactured. Putin has become, in the words of Senator Angus King, the new Hitler, out to grab Ukraine and the rest of Eastern Europe. The full-throated cries for war, echoed shamelessly by the press, are justified by draining the conflict of historical context, by elevating ourselves as the saviors and whoever we oppose, from Saddam Hussein to Putin, as the new Nazi leader. 

I don’t know where this will end up. We must remember, as Putin reminded us, that Russia is a nuclear power. We must remember that once you open the Pandora’s box of war it unleashes dark and murderous forces no one can control. I know this from personal experience. The match has been lit. The tragedy is that there was never any dispute about how the conflagration would start.

However, he is going to try to make it permanent and during this three weeks where Trudeau can ignore laws and individual rights, he is going to tear apart those who do not agree with him and his political enemies. Almost all of it will happen out of view and the legacy media, CBC, CTV, Global, Toronto Star, Globe & Mail etc. will not report any of it even if they hear about it because they are paid off with “subsidies” and Trudeau implemented so as to gain control of the press/information/thought control. Trudeau is using hundreds of millions of our tax dollars every years to give to “selected” media so as to control information and therefore thought. This is the first thing communist regimes do; they first want to control information and thought.

I said many times, as soon as Trudeau was bizarrely elected as prime minister of Canada that authoritarian takeover of Canada was his goal from the beginning.

I said he was going to seize more and more power piece by piece, far beyond what a Canadian prime minister is supposed to have; which he has been doing. Some attempts have been stopped, others have succeeded. I said that if he ever had a chance he would seize absolute authoritarian dictatorial power. And he has done just that. I had no idea how he could possibly be able to get this absolute power, but I said multiple times that if he had a chance he would do it. And he has.

And now I am saying that he is going to try to make this authoritarian dictatorial power permanent. I hoped I was wrong about the other things and unfortunately I wasn’t. Of course I hope I’m wrong about this.

One more point. Chrystia Freeland is making many if not most of the moves behind the scenes and they are being guided by the World Economic Forum in their shared agenda of imposing a global authoritarian, totalitarian government system that works with the large corporations to control all wealth and own all property.

The agenda is called “the great reset” and their slogan is “You will own nothing and you will be happy.” Of course someone will have to own all of the “everything” that people used to own. One guess at who that would be. Of course. Them. You will be allotted digital credits to rent things that they permit based on your own “social credit score”. If you say the wrong things or have the wrong opinions or jay walk or whatever they will just shut off your credits and you can no longer rent anything. Sound familiar? Yes. That’s happening in Canada right now to specific targeted people who had the “wrong” opinions and who wanted their freedom back and so supported a convoy of trucks going to peacefully demonstrate for their freedoms.

So does this sound like a conspiracy theory, like the forced vaccines (extreme coercion is force), vax passports, extreme restrictions, etc were all once conspiracy theories? Well, the founder and head of the World Economic Forum is seen in a recently surfaced video saying that Trudeau and more than half of his cabinet are disciples of the “World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders” program. He also talked about how they penetrate governments to impose their control over countries. And of course, their main agenda is the great reset, which Trudeau has specifically promoted such as in a zoom speech to the United Nations, which is also on board with the great reset using the name “Agenda 2030”.

Jagmeet Singh also has a profile on the WEF site. I have not looked in to whether he went through the program. But he was responsible for allowing Trudeau to seize authoritarian power by having his socialist party vote to support the so-called “Emergency” Act.

LONDON/SINGAPORE (Reuters) – HSBC said Hong Kong’s strict curbs on travel and social interaction are hurting the economy and may impact the ability to hire and keep staff in the Asian financial hub, in one of the strongest comments yet by a global lender on the city’s tough measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The evolving Covid-19 restrictions in Hong Kong, including travel, public gathering and social distancing restrictions, are impacting the Hong Kong economy, and may affect the ability to attract and retain staff,” the lender said on Tuesday.

The comments came as the Asia-focused lender reported its annual profit more than doubled. It said, however, it expects a weaker performance in its wealth management business in Asia in the first quarter of this year.

Daily infections numbers in Hong Kong have risen sharply this year, reaching a record 7,533 cases on Monday, overwhelming the government’s testing, hospital and quarantine capacities.

The Chinese territory is following Beijing’s “zero-COVID” policy rather than adapting to life with the virus.

As a result of that policy, more expats are thinking of leaving, and global banks, asset managers and corporate law firms are facing up to many of their staff exiting after annual bonuses are paid out in the first three months of the year. 

Economists say that without unprecedented relief measures in Hong Kong’s 2022-23 budget on Wednesday, it’s hard to see how the economy can avoid contracting again after emerging last year out of its most prolonged recessions, which lasted from 2019 to 2020.

HSBC’s comments came after Bill Winters, chief executive of Standard Chartered, last week said the city’s travel curbs could in the long run hurt its status as a financial hub compared to other regional centres.

‘The brand is so toxic’: Dems fear extinction in rural US | AP News

SMETHPORT, Pa. (AP) — Some Democrats in rural Pennsylvania are afraid to tell you they’re Democrats.

The party’s brand is so toxic in the small towns 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh that some liberals have removed bumper stickers and yard signs and refuse to acknowledge publicly their party affiliation. These Democrats are used to being outnumbered by the local Republican majority, but as their numbers continue to dwindle, those who remain are feeling increasingly isolated and unwelcome in their own communities.

“The hatred for Democrats is just unbelievable,” said Tim Holohan, an accountant based in rural McKean County who recently encouraged his daughter to get rid of a pro-Joe Biden bumper sticker. “I feel like we’re on the run.”

The climate across rural Pennsylvania is symptomatic of a larger political problem threatening the Democratic Party heading into the November elections. Beyond losing votes in virtually every election since 2008, Democrats have been effectively ostracized from the overwhelmingly white parts of rural America, leaving party leaders with few options to reverse a cultural trend that is redefining the political landscape.
